Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve

Only 98 miles from the Museum, Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve is a 1,400 acre reserve with a five-mile network of hiking trails. It is comprised of salt marshes, mudflats, coastal dunes, riparian, and freshwater marshes, making this reserve the largest saltwater wetland in southern California.

A very popular park with photographers and birders, more than 200 bird species have been identified at Bolsa Chica, as it is a major stop on the Pacific Flyway, a diverse chain of habitats used by migratory birds throughout the year.
